Coconut Coir Brick
Coconut Coir is perfect for worm farm bedding. It is 100% organic and made from the husks of coconut. Coconut is quickly and easily renewable. It is also naturally free of bacteria and plant disease. Remember that it is advisable for your bedding to consist of more than one item to ensure that it does not lack essential elements like nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon.
Soak dried leaves, shredded cardboard, and well-dried manure or compost with the Coconut Coir in water for 1 hour or overnight, should you use tap water. Squeeze most of the water from the bedding to ensure that it has the same moisture level as a wrung-out, damp sponge. Your bedding should never be too wet or too dry.
It is important to remember that bedding should never be too compact and well aerated. The bedding must provide a comfortable environment for your worms. It should be fluffy to assist the worms in moving around with ease, perfect for burrowing. Keep in mind that worms breathe through their skins.
Worms thrive in good bedding, as it provides the nutrients they require and enable them to break down the food matter given. Thriving worms will produce lots of worm castings. Soon you will be harvesting Vermicompost and Vermitea from your worm farm.
